THAI HA BOOKS AT INDONESIA INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR 2026: BRINGING VIETNAMESE BOOKS TO THE WORLD AND STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS

Participating in the Indonesia International Book Fair 2026 and the Indonesia Rights Fair Fellowship programme in Jakarta, Thai Ha Books showcased a selection of works by Vietnamese authors while meeting international partners, discussing publishing rights and exploring opportunities for cross-border cooperation.

Indonesia International Book Fair 2026 – Where Books Connect the World

On 30 September 2026, the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF 2026) officially opened in Jakarta. Organised by the Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI), the fair is one of the country’s major publishing events.

Under the theme “Read Today, Lead Tomorrow”, this year’s fair highlighted the power of reading to broaden knowledge, connect people and shape the future.

At the opening ceremony, Arys Hilman Nugraha likened books to passports that allow us to travel around the world. Echoing this sentiment, Endah T.D. Retnoastuti referred to Emily Dickinson’s celebrated poem There is no Frigate like a Book, evoking the image of a book as a vessel capable of carrying us to distant lands.

These two evocative images captured the spirit of IIBF 2026: books not only broaden our horizons but also build bridges between cultures.

Beyond book exhibitions and showcases, IIBF provided a platform for rights trading, professional exchanges and the development of international publishing partnerships.

Thai Ha Books Showcases Vietnamese Titles in Jakarta

Through its participation in the Indonesia Rights Fair Fellowship 2026, Thai Ha Books had the opportunity to engage with the international publishing community at an event bringing together approximately 125 participants and organisations, representing 93 publishers and literary rights agencies from 18 countries.

During meetings with international partners, Thai Ha Books introduced a range of titles by Vietnamese authors, including:

  • Tuoi Tho Lam Chuyen Buon Cuoi
  • Khoa Hoc Sieu De series
  • Beyond You
  • De Con Tu Hoc
  • Cha Me Kho On Luyen Con Khon
  • To La Hoc Sinh Tieu Hoc
  • Con Tha Thu Roi Ba Me Oi!

Spanning children’s literature, popular science, parenting and personal development, these publications reflect the diversity of Vietnamese books and their appeal to different readerships.

Through face-to-face discussions, Thai Ha Books introduced Vietnamese authors and their works while gaining insights into the needs of different markets, readers’ preferences and potential rights partnerships with international publishers.

Expanding Opportunities for International Publishing Cooperation

Thai Ha Books’ presence at IIBF 2026 formed part of its ongoing efforts to bring Vietnamese books to international markets and strengthen its network of publishing partners across the region and beyond.

When a book crosses national borders, it carries more than its author’s story. It also shares the culture, knowledge and values of the country from which it originates.

The meetings in Jakarta therefore offered more than opportunities for professional exchange; they also opened up promising possibilities for future rights deals and publishing collaborations.

Inspired by the spirit of “Read Today, Lead Tomorrow”, Thai Ha Books continues its journey of building connections and bringing Vietnamese stories closer to readers around the world.
