Strengthening International Publishing Cooperation, Promoting Reading Culture and Cultural Industries

On March 18, 2026, in Hanoi, Ms. Claudia Kaiser – Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair – together with Thai Ha Books, engaged in a series of significant working sessions with various Vietnamese government agencies in the fields of press, publishing, and culture.

During the day, the delegation met and worked with the Department of Press and Publishing under the Central Propaganda Department; the Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution of Vietnam.

The morning session with the Department of Press and Publishing was attended by Director General Tong Van Thanh, Deputy Director General Nguyen Thi My Linh, and representatives from relevant units. Across all meetings, discussions consistently focused on the role of books and reading culture in the development of cultural industries. Participants agreed that in today’s context, books are not only a medium for knowledge transmission but also a vital foundation for human development, the dissemination of cultural values, and the sustainable growth of society.

One of the key highlights was participation in international book fairs. These were recognized not only as important platforms for expanding cooperation and facilitating copyright exchange, but also as opportunities to enhance the global standing of Vietnam’s publishing industry and to advance cultural industries through deeper international integration.

During the courtesy visit to Mr. Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the parties expressed their appreciation and shared a desire to further strengthen connections and cooperation in the cultural and publishing sectors.

At the working session with the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution, chaired by Director General Nguyen Nguyen and attended by representatives from the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as domestic publishing houses, discussions centered on enabling Vietnamese publishers to better access international markets particularly through major book fairs such as the Frankfurt Book Fair. These platforms were highlighted as essential channels for keeping pace with global trends, gaining experience, and gradually enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s publishing sector.

Notably, throughout this series of activities, Thai Ha Books played an active bridging role between the Frankfurt Book Fair and Vietnam’s cultural and publishing authorities. With extensive experience participating in major international book fairs, Thai Ha Books has not only contributed to promoting copyright exchange but has also proactively facilitated connections and introduced international cooperation opportunities for Vietnam’s publishing industry. At the same time, the company continues to demonstrate its pioneering role in promoting reading culture, bringing Vietnamese books to the world, and introducing global knowledge to domestic readers.

These engagements went beyond formal exchanges, opening up new directions for the development of reading culture in an increasingly integrated global context. Building on this foundation, further initiatives and concrete collaborations are expected to emerge, helping position Vietnam’s publishing industry more prominently on the international stage.
